Did you know, on average children have 3 times more taste buds than adults? This means that children will typically experience new flavors in a much more intense way than we do. For this reason, it’s important to closely manage the salt and sugar they eat. With children’s little taste buds in mind, we were inspired to create our new Messy Monkeys Baked Snacks!

SNACKS WITH HIDDEN GOODNESS AND NO NASTIES!

In addition to fun flavors like Pizza, Cheese, Apple, and Chocolate, every pack of Messy Monkeys contain nutritious ingredients for kids like whole grain corn, quinoa, sorghum, and pea protein. What’s not included is extra salt (<100mg/serving) and sugar (1g /serving). Messy Monkeys is also free of gluten and peanuts, and our manufacturing facilities pass the test as well! Vegan lunch can be far from boring. Experiment with different ways to have your vegetables. Whether it’s sweet peppers on a skewer or cauliflower on the grill, this box is packed with flavor...and choline! As your child is learning and growing, choline is an essential part of their brain development. Rich sources of choline are found in non-vegan foods like eggs and fish. However, cauliflower and broccoli are two of the richest plant sources of this nutrient.

GRILLED CAULIFLOWER RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
-1 heads cauliflower
-1/4 c. extra-virgin olive oil -1/4 tsp. garlic powder
-1/4 tsp. paprika
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:
-Remove and discard leaves from cauliflower head, then cut it into thick “steaks” about 1/2" thick. -In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, garlic powder, and paprika. Season mixture with salt and pepper.
-Heat a grill or grill pan to medium. Brush one side of each steak with olive oil mixture and place the brushed side down on the grill. Brush the top sides with olive oil mixture and cook until tender and both sides are charred in spots, about 8 minutes per side. Top each cauliflower with cheese and cook until melted.

HUMUS RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
-1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
-1 (15oz/425g) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed -3 tablespoons hulled tahini, plus more to taste
-3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, plus more to taste
-1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt, plus more to taste
-1 teaspoon minced garlic (1 clove)
-Pinch of ground cumin, plus more to taste
-Pinch of cayenne pepper, plus more to taste (optional) -Pinch of sweet paprika, to serve

INSTRUCTIONS:
-Throw all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender, and blast on high until smooth and creamy. Tweak the tahini, lemon juice, salt, garlic, cumin, and cayenne pepper to taste.
-Garnish with sweet paprika and a drizzle of olive oil, and serve with chips, crackers, veggie sticks, or slathered on sandwiches or wraps.

-1 1⁄2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice (or can sub apple cider vinegar) -1/2 teaspoon dried dill or fresh chopped chives
-1/4 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste -2 tablespoons water to thin dressing -Optional: 1/4 teaspoon honey

INSTRUCTIONS
-Add all ingredients to a bowl or a mason jar and mix until well combined. If using a mason jar, you can simply put the lid on and shake the jar until well combined. Dressing serves 4 - 2 tablespoons each.

𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐏𝐄
𝑰𝑵𝑮𝑹𝑬𝑫𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑻𝑺
500g (2 large) Chicken Breasts, cut into strips
-60g (2/3 cup) Ground Almonds
-1 Egg, lightly beaten
-Light spray of Olive oil

𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑼𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵
-Pre-heat oven to 200C / 390F
-Place Ground almonds in a shallow bowl
-Dip the chicken into the egg with one hand and then place in the parmesan mix. Use your other hand to sprinkle and roll in the parmesan mixture. Then transfer to rack on a baking tray. Repeat with remaining chicken.
-Lightly spray with oil and bake for approx 15-18 mins (depending on size of chicken strips)
-Serve straight away.

𝐃𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐘 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐂 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐄𝐒𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐏𝐄
𝑰𝑵𝑮𝑹𝑬𝑫𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑻𝑺
-8 oz pasta, gluten-free or regular
-2 cups unsweetened dairy-free milk, preferably rice milk
-2 tsp nutritional yeast
-3 tbsp vegan butter
-1/2 tsp sea salt
-1/4 tsp black pepper
-1/4 cup bread crumbs, gluten-free or regular
-1/4 tsp paprika
-1/4 cup vegan Parmesan cheese

𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑼𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵
-Cook pasta according to package instructions, drain thoroughly when done.
-Preheat oven to 350˚F.
-Prepare the cheese sauce while oven is warming.
-In a small pot, melt the vegan butter.
-When melted, add salt, pepper and nutritional yeast. Whisk in dairy-free milk product.
-Add Daiya Cheddar Style Shreds and cook over low/medium heat for 2-3 minutes, whisking frequently.
-Stir in the macaroni and mix together.
-Scoop the pasta mixture evenly into the muffin tray. Sprinkle with reserved topping. Place into oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
